The Insurance You Must Have

Nothing is certain in life which is why you should always be protected against foreseeable problems and the unknown. You might be the most careful driver in the world, but that won't stop another driver from hitting you unexpectedly. Having insurance is important not just to protect your financial interests, but also to give you peace of mind that you and your loved ones are protected from all of life's little surprises.

Life Insurance

Arguably the most important insurance to obtain once you have children, life insurance is paid out on your death to your designated beneficiaries. This means when you pass on, your loved ones will be financially protected, even without you there to earn a paycheck. Getting the right amount of life insurance can be tricky, but even a small amount is better than none.

If you were to die today, your funeral alone would likely set your family back thousands of dollars. If you don't have life insurance, the cost of your death might drag your family under, but the debt and bills you've been paying for will finish the job. Without life insurance, it's very likely they simply won't have adequate resources to pay everything off and keep the family on an even keel financially.

Health Insurance

You might get away without regular check-ups for a while if you are reasonably healthy with no emergencies, but eventually the lack of health insurance does catch up with you. A trip to the emergency room can run you thousands, and if you wind up with a serious condition or the victim of an accident of some kind, the medical bills can completely smother you. Medical bills are also often not included in bankruptcy filings, so they will continue to follow you around your entire life until you manage to pay them off.

Health insurance is especially important for children. Proper health insurance for your child guarantees you can afford to see the doctor for any health concerns you might have as well as the regular appointments your child needs for check-ups and inoculations.

Auto Insurance

Driving today is a rat race, and too often the most careful drivers are the victims of accidents. Auto insurance can cover the costs of repairing your vehicle, any other vehicles involved in an accident, the property that might have been damaged and any medical bills. Not only is auto insurance necessary for your protection while driving (or even if you leave your car parked), it's also required by law to operate in a vehicle in all states.

Homeowner's Insurance

When you own your home, there are certain responsibilities and obligations that go with that ownership. Unless you own your home outright, you'll be required by your mortgage company to have homeowner's insurance on your property. This insurance covers the cost of replacing the actual building and possessions in case of fire, burglary, or other disaster. Supplements to your homeowner's insurance include flood or rising water protection and wind and hail coverage – both of which can save your resources and sanity should your home with damaged or lost.
